Wallingford design guidelines

Monday, June 7, 5 p.m., is the deadline for the public to file an appeal of the Department of Planning and Development's determination that amending the City's Land Use Code to adopt design guidelines for new projects within the Wallingford Residential Urban Village area would have no significant environmental impacts. Copies of the proposed amendment and design guidelines may be obtained at the DPD Public Resource Center, 700 5th Ave., Suite 2000 (in Key Tower). Appeals of the decision to issue a Declaration of Non-Significance must be submitted to the Office of the Hearing Examiner by the aforementioned deadline and must be accompanied by a $50 filing fee payable to the City of Seattle. Ballard twin towers

A developer on May 13 submitted an application to the Department of Planning and Development for a master-use permit to build two eight-story buildings that would have seven stories of residential units above a single story of customer service office and retail space. The twin towers, at 1536 NW Market St. in Ballard, would be connected by an underground parking garage. Ballard QFC project

Security Properties, a Seattle real estate developer, on May 13 submitted an application for a master-use permit from the Department of Planning and Development for a mixed-use project at 5700 24th Ave. NW, that would include a 42,560-square-foot QFC grocery store and 270 apartment units. The eight-story building would include a parking garage for 400 cars. An existing store on the site would be demolished to make way for the new complex. Green Lake cottages planned

A developer submitted a request to the City Council on May 13 for a rezone of a 34,592-square-foot site at 8016 Ashworth Ave. N. from SF5000 (which limits new developments to single-family homes on lots no less than 5,000 square feet in size) to L1 (Lowrise 1) which would allow for the construction of 12 single-family cottages and two four-unit townhouse buildings. The proposed project would include 23 parking spaces provided in garages within each building. An existing building on the property would be demolished to make way for the new development. Fremont townhouses

A developer submitted an application to the Department of Planning and Development on May 13 for a master-use permit that would allow two parcels at 4509 Evanston Ave. N. to be subdivided into eight smaller lots. The developer's plans to build townhouses on the site is also being reviewed by DPD staff as a separate proposal, Project No. 2308466. City plans vehicle repair facility

The Department of Planning and Development on May 13 approved a master-use permit allowing the City's Fleets and Facilities Department to build a 11,937-square-foot single-story building to be used as a major vehicle repair facility at 12600 Stone Ave. N. in the Haller Lake neighborhood. Wallingford low-income housing

Housing Resource Group, a Seattle-based developer of housing for low-income residents, on May 6 filed an application for a master-use permit from the Department of Planning and Development that would allow for the construction of a four-story building at 1205 N. 45th St. that would include 8,676-square-feet of retail space and 10 low-income apartment units on the ground floor and 60 low-income apartments on the upper floors.
