Maple Leaf community garden
The Maple Leaf Community Council has submitted an application for a matching fund grant from the City's Department of Neighborhoods to cover the costs of finalizing a development plan for the Maple Leaf Community Garden at 529 NE 103rd St. The community council is seeking support for the project from Maple Leaf residents in the form of monetary donations and/or volunteering their time to participate in the planning, according to the council's January/February/March 2004 newsletter. Dahlia tuber sale, March 19
The Puget Sound Dahlia Association will offer a large selection of locally-grown dahlia tubers for sale on Saturday, March 27, at Faith Lutheran Church, 8208 18th Ave. NE, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 500 varieties will be available, most for $3 apiece. Dahlia experts will be on hand to aid in your selections. The Puget Sound Dahlia Association is a local organization of dahlia growers and exhibitors. Garden tours for kids
Public tours of the Seattle Tilth Children's Gardens at the Good Shepherd Center will be offered beginning Monday, March 15, at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Tours will be offered through June 11. The "Earth Steward Garden Tours" are hands-on garden field trips for school groups in preschool through sixth grade. Cost is $4 per child with a $60 minimum. School classes interested in signing up for a tour should call Seattle Tilth at 633-0451 extension 2. Seattle Tilth is a nonprofit group that promotes organic gardening, composting, recycling and urban ecology. The Good Shepherd Center is located at 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N. in the Wallingford neighborhood. | ||
