Chambers hand out annual awards

The Ballard, University and Wallingford chambers of commerce each recently held their respective annual awards events.

The award winners for the Ballard Chamber were: Mark Hendricks of the Ballard Boys & Girls Club, who received the King Salmon Award for outstanding service to SeaFood Fest; Peg Brown of Viking Bank, who received the Golden Spatula Award for being an outstanding salmon BBQ volunteer; Katy Szekely of Alternative Business Services, who received the Director's Award for her contribution to the Ballard ARTwalk; and Jamie Munson of Mars Hill Church, who received the President's Award for his contribution to the Ballard Jazz Festival.

The award winners for the Greater University Chamber were: Seattle Police officers David Marley and George Baseley, both of the North Precinct, who each were honored as Officers of the Year; Shannon Moore-Gray of Wells Fargo Bank, who received the President's Cup Award for serving as last year's chamber president; Craig Schafer and Alan Battersby, the owners of the University Tower Hotel, who received the Don Rupp Memorial Outstanding Small Business Award; volunteer Jim Moran, who received the Cal McCune Community Service Award; and Andrew McMasters of Wing-It Productions, who received the Seafair Spirit Cup Award.

This year's winners of the Wallingford Chamber's Special Award for Service to the Business Community are: Simone Andrus of Wide World Books & Maps; and the staff of Wallingford Center, which include Connie Strader of Lorig Management Services, building manager Carrel Cabrera, and Marian Jarosz, owner of The Garden Spot and president of the Wallingford Center Merchants Association.
