Halloween festivities abound throughout North Seattle

Here are some Halloween events. Don't forget to wear your costume!

Pumpkin Prowl:

Walk through the zoo to the light of a thousand illuminated pumpkins on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Oct. 24 to 26. Two different time slots are offered per ticket (5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. to 9 p.m.). The event ends each night at 9:30 p.m.

Highlights of the event will include themed carved pumpkin displays, "sweet stations" with treats, special effects, and live entertainment.

The cost is $7 for adults/$5 for kids. Enter the zoo at the south gate, North 50th Street and Fremont Avenue North. For more information, call 615-0076.

Day of Dead Fest:

The Phinney Neighborhood Center's Day of the Dead Festival will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N. A procession of traditional Aztec Dancers, masked revelers, and musicians will gather at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave. N. and proceed to the Phinney Center at 7 p.m. The public is invited to join in.

At the center, there will be music, sugar skulls for decorating, music, art, and a performance by the Aztec Dancers. This event is free and open to the public.

On Sunday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m., the center will host a performance by the Guillermo Diego Ensemble, a Mexican chamber music group. Admission is $8 for adults, free for anyone under age 18. For information on either Phinney Center event, call 783-2244.

Teen Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt:

Bitter Lake Community Center, 13035 Linden Ave. N., will hold a Teen Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt on Thursday, Oct. 23, 7:15 p.m. Free. Bring a bag and a flashlight. Information: 684-7524.

Halloween Swim:

Evans Pool, 7201 E Green Lake Way N., will hold a Halloween Swim on Friday, Oct. 31, from 7-8:30 p.m. Free. Information: 684-4961.

Family Center Fright Night:

North Seattle Family Center will hold a Fright Night event on Friday, Oct. 24., 6-8:30 p.m., at the Meadowbrook Community Center, 10513 35th Ave. NE. Suggested donation, $10/family. Information: 364-7930.

Phinney Halloween Carnival:

Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., will hold a Young Children's Halloween Carnival on Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to noon. Free. Game tickets 25 cents each. Information: 783-2244.

Tiny Goblins Carnival:

Meadowbrook Community Center, 10513 35th Ave. NE, will hold a Tiny Goblins Carnival of kids, ages 5 and under, on Saturday, Oct. 25, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Free. Game tickets 25 cents each. Information: 684-7522.

Big Pumpkin Bash:

Bitter Lake Community Center Annex, 13040 Greenwood Ave. N., will hold a big Pumpkin Bash for kids, ages 2 to 10, on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free. Carnival game tickets 25 cents each. Information: 684-7524.

Ballard Trick-Or-Treat:

Ballard Merchants Association will hold a Trick-Or-Treat event for kids, ages 12 and under, on Friday, Oct. 31, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Participating merchants throughout the Ballard Business District will have an orange sign in their window. Free. Children must be in costume and accompanied by parent. Information: 784-9705.

Fremont Treat or Treat:

Fremont Chamber of Commerce will hold a Trick-Or-Treat event for kids, ages 12 and under, on Friday, Oct. 31, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Participating merchants in the Fremont Business District will have an orange sign in their window. Free. Children must be in costume and accompanied by adult. Information: 632-3170.

Loyal Heights Kids Carnivals:

Loyal Heights Community Center, 2101 NW 77th St., will hold carnivals for kids, ages 10 and under, on Friday, Oct. 31. The event for kids 7 and under will be held from 6-7 p.m. The events for kids 8 to 10 will be held from 7-8 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the Northwest Emergency Fund. Ravenna Halloween Carnival:

Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, 6535 Ravenna Ave. N., will hold a Halloween Carnival on Friday, Oct. 31. The event for kids 5 and under will be held from 6-7 p.m.; The event for kids 6 to 12 will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Cost: $3 per person, $8 per family. Information: 684-7534

Ballard Halloween Carnival:

Ballard Community Center, 6020 28th Ave. NW., will hold a Halloween Carnival on Friday, Oct. 31, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free. Game tickets 25 cents each.

Laurelhurst Halloween Carnival:

Laurelhurst Community Center, 4554 NE 41st St., will hold a Halloween Carnival on Friday, Oct. 24, 4:30-8 p.m. Free. Game tickets 25 cents each. Information: 684-7529.


Halloween Concert:

Spooky music and organ classics by Carole Terry will be performed on Friday, Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m. in the Walker-Ames Room of Kane Hall at the University of Washington campus. Cost: $8/$5 students and seniors. Information: 685-8384.

Troll-A-Go-Go, Oct. 31:

Troll-A-Go-Go, the Fremont Arts Council's annual fundraising masquerade ball will be held Friday, Oct. 31 starting at 9 p.m. in the former Red Hook Brewery building, 3400 Phinney Ave. N.

Tickets are available at Sonic Boom Records and at www.ticketweb.com. This is a 21-and-over event. Proceeds will benefit the Fremont Arts Council.
