Maple Leaf School site for sale

The Seattle School District has placed the former site of Maple Leaf Elementary School, 3212 NE 100th St., on the real estate market.

The School District is seeking a minimum offer is $1.25 million, according to a press release from Sage Real Estate Strategies, the company working with the district to liquidate surplus properties. Bids are due on Oct. 21.

The district has split the site into two parcels (one is .98 acres, the other is 1.97 acres), and will take bids on either or both, although it prefers to sell the property to a single buyer. The land is zoned single-family residential (SF 7200), which would allow for the platting of up to 15 lots.

School Board member Barbara Schlag Peterson informed members of the Meadowbrook Community Council of the impending sale at the group's Sept. 9 meeting. She says that the district is in the process of selling several surplus properties. "All of the properties that the district has been selling (have sold for) far more than the district anticipated," says Peterson. A Magnolia school site recently offered for purchase by the district drew 12 bids from interested buyers and sold for approximately $7 million, almost twice its appraised value.

The district's next North End surplus property to be offerered for sale is the site of the former North End Annex, located at 13720 Roosevelt Way in the Haller Lake neighborhood. This 3.23-acre parcel is zoned single-family residential (SF 5000), which would allow for the platting of up to 34 building lots.

A bidders conference for the Maple Leaf School property will be held at the site on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m.
