Hale expansion approved

The Department of Design, Construction and Land Use on Sept. 18 approved a master-use permit to the Seattle Public Schools District for the future construction of a 14,000-square-foot addition to the performing arts auditorium at Nathan Hale High School. The school is located at 10750 30th Ave. NE in the Meadowbrook neighborhood. For details, call Scott Kemp of DCLU at 233-3866.

Saxe Floral site update

The developer of a proposed mixed-use complex on the old site of Saxe Floral & Greenhouse Inc. at 2402 NE 65th St. in the Ravenna neighborhood has submitted an application for a master-use permit to subdivide four parcels into 33 units, which would vary in size from 813 square feet to 13,627 square feet. A separate application for a permit to build 32 townhouses and a retail/apartment building on the property is also under review by DCLU. Ballard wine bar planned

DCLU on Sept. 18 approved a master-use permit to change a portion of an existing retail store at 5308 Ballard Ave. NW to a drinking establishment that will be called Portalis Wine Shop and Wine Bar. For details, call Lori Swallow of DCLU at 684-5627.

Phinney sidewalk cafe

The owners of Sully's Snowgoose Saloon at 6119 Phinney Ave. N have applied for a master-use permit to establish an adjacent sidewalk cafe. For details, call Tamara Garrett of DCLU at 684-0976.

Pancake House expansion

An application has been submitted for a master-use permit that would allow for the construction of a 5,247-square-foot addition to the Original Pancake House restaurant at 8037 15th Ave. NW. McDonald School site update

The City's Department of Neighborhoods has formed an advisory committee to identify uses and recommend criteria for establishing non-school uses for the former McDonald Elementary School property at 144 NE 54th St. (just west of Latona Avenue NE) in the Wallingford neighborhood. Wallingford cell towers

Calvary seeks permits

Calvary Christian Assembly Church (formerly known as Calvary Temple), located at 6801 Roosevelt Way NE, has submitted an application for a master-use permit to change a 3,855-square-foot portion of the church building to use as a child care center. The church has also applied for a master-use permit to install two double-faced, free-standing message board signs. Pinehurst mixed-use

DCLU recently convened its Design Review Board to consider a developer's plans to build a four-story mixed-use building at 11714 Pinehurst Way NE. Assumption to expand

DCLU on Aug. 28 granted a master-use permit to allow for the future construction of first and second floor additions (totaling 10,899 square feet) to the existing Assumption Catholic Church building at 6201 33rd Ave. NE. DCLU on Sept. 4 granted a master-use permit to allow a single parcel at 3648 Dayton Ave. N into four unit lots for the purpose of selling or leasing the lots.
