Recycled art show, Sept. 15-21

Turning trash into fine art is theme of the RE Store's Second Recycled Art Show, held from Sept. 15 to Sept. 21 at the RE Store, 1440 NW 52nd St.

The artwork was selected for the show by a team of three judges: Karen Light, owner of Garde-Rail Gallery; Maureen Newby, a former public art project manager for the Seattle Arts Commission; and Rosita Romera, president and artistic director for the Isis on First art gallery.

Special awards will be given in the categories of youth (artists age 20 and younger), best use of used building materials, best blend of form and function, and best use of mixed materials. Visitors to the show are invited to vote for their favorite work in the People's Choice Award competition.

An awards ceremony, featuring Robin Worley's Haute Trash Fashion Show and musical guests will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.

The RE Store collects and resells used building materials. For more information, go to www.re-sources.org/restore.
