Gardening classes offered

The University of Washington Center for Urban Horticulture will present the following gardening classes in September. Pre-registration is required for all sessions. Call for cost and registration information, 543-8616.

· "Gardening for the Soul":

Master Gardener Peggy Morgan will explore the therapeutic elements of gardening on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

· "My Garden and How I Do It":

Linda McDonald outlines the development of her personal garden through a slideshow and garden tour on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. Map provided at registration.

· "Pond and Water Garden Basics":

Dianne Torgerson, owner of Oasis Water Gardens, will give the fundamentals of introducing a water feature into your landscape, including plant selection, design, plumbing, wiring, and filtration on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

· "Gardening with History":

Glenn Withey and Charles Price, curators of the Dunn Garden, will present a lecture and slideshow on the Olmsted-inspired Northwest Seattle garden and the challenges faced in preserving its character (and working in a shady environment) on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
