Costco to present plans, June 2

Costco will present preliminary designs for its proposed North Seattle store at a Department of Design Construction and Land Use design review board meeting on Monday, June 2, 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Ingraham High School (1819 N. 135th St.). The store would be located at 12220 Aurora Ave. N. Costco is the nation's largest operator of membership club warehouse stores. The retailer's plans have drawn opposition from neighbors who are concerned over the increased traffic that the store would create. For details, call Scott Kemp of DCLU at 233-3866.

Lake City project appealed

DCLU on May 19 granted a master-use permit to allow a developer to construct a six-story building at 12328 31st Ave. NE that will include retail and offices on the first floor and 50 residential units on the upper floors. The project will include parking for 69 cars in a three-level partially-below grade garage. Appeals have been filed opposing the City's decision to grant conditional approval of the design for the project, as well as the issuing of a "declaration of non-significance" regarding the impacts to the surrounding area that the project would create. A hearing to consider the appeals will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 1:30 p.m. at the Office of the Hearing Examiner, 13th floor of the Alaska Building at 618 Second Ave. The hearing is open to the public, but only those who are parties to the appeal or who have been called by the parties as witnesses will be allowed to testify. For details, call Bruce Rips of DCLU at 615-1392.
