Tip from a Pro
Selecting a lamp shade
Candy Nelson of Lamp Shades Galore at 10706 Lake City Way NE says replacing your lamp shades is an easy and inexpensive way to give your home a fresh look. The ability of new lamp shades to give your room a lift is often overlooked. Give an old lamp an updated look by changing your tired old drum shade for something with a little flair! Hard back shades will age slowly over time, turning yellow and brittle and cutting the light. You find that you are putting in higher wattage bulbs, but it is only making the problem worse. Just because the lamp came with a certain lamp shade does not mean there aren't other choices. A different lamp shade will make your lamp look like an entirely new lamp. Try different shapes, colors and fabrics. If you put a cheap shade on an expensive lamp, it will make the lamp look cheap. If you put a quality shade on an inexpensive lamp, it will make the lamp look expensive. This first rule of selecting a new lamp shade is BRING YOUR LAMP! You need to try the shade on, just like you would a new pair of shoes. You want to make sure it's a perfect fit! | ||
