New manager at Frontier Bank

By CLAYTON PARK

David C. Howry recently started his new position as manager of the Frontier Bank branch in Lake City, but he is no stranger to the community.

For years, the avid model train enthusiast has been making monthly treks to the Lake City Community Center to attend meetings of the Seattle chapter of the Train Collectors Association. He specializes in collecting "O" gauge Lionel trains. "I have a room in my home for my train layout," he says. His 5-year-old grandson, Michael, helps operate the trains.

Howry said he jumped at the chance to work in Lake City when Frontier asked if he would be interested in managing its Lake City office. He succeeds Joseph Scott, who left to pursue other opportunities.

The Lake City branch employs seven workers, including another new hire, commercial lending officer Ann Aahl, formerly with Bank of America.

"My goal as manager is to expand and grow the business," Howry says.

Prior to joining Frontier in March, Howry was principal of a Bellevue firm called Human Resource Transitions. The bulk of his career has been in the banking industry. Previous jobs included serving as CEO of Bank NorthWest in Bellingham and CEO of U.S. Bank of Idaho.

Howry has been active in community service everywhere he's been. He has already joined the board of the Lake City Chamber of Commerce and has been invited to participate in the Lake City Rotary. "I always like to give something back to the community," he says.

Howry lives in Mukilteo with his wife Melanie, who, along with a friend, makes designer lamp shades.

Frontier Bank's Lake City branch is located at 2825 NE 125th St. For more information, call 365-6300.
