Lake City, Northgate library designs to be previewed

The Seattle Public Library will host two open house events in February to give the public a chance to preview the designs for the expanded Lake City branch and future Northgate branch.The open house for the Lake City Library project will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 4-7 p.m., at the library (12502 28th Ave. NE).

The plans call for expanding the 9,013-square-foot Lake City landmark, built in 1965, to 15,000 square feet.

Designers from ARC Architects will be on hand to answer questions about the $3.8 million project. The Lake City branch will be part of a municipal center that also includes a neighborhood service center, community center, public park and parking garage.

The open house for the Northgate Library project will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, beginning at 7 p.m. at Olympic View Elementary School (504 NE 95th St.). The public can get a look at the plan for new 10,000-square-foot library, as well as a new 20,000-square-foot Northgate-area community center and 1.67-acre public park.
