Victory for Thornton Creek

A King County Superior Court judge has ordered a builder to halt construction of a home in a protected buffer area around Thornton Creek in the City of Shoreline. Judge Sharon Armstrong determined that the City had erred in allowing Donald Sweazey and Gaston Enterprises LLC to build a single-family house on a lot that fell within the 100-foot buffer zone required by code.

The suit against Gaston was brought by Shoreline residents Tim and Patty Crawford and their non-profit creek advocacy group Twin Ponds Fish Friends.

The court ordered Gaston to remove any evidence of construction on the site and to restore the buffer zones to the condition they were in prior to the building project. The restoration work shall include replacing any trees and plants that were removed to make way for the construction.
