NE Library expansion:

A public hearing will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2 p.m. at the 1100 Municipal Building (600 Fourth Ave.) to discuss plans to expand the North East Library, located at 6801 35th Ave. NE. The plan calls for expanding the library by 8,000 square feet and providing surface parking for 19 cars. Two houses located directly north of the library would be demolished. The director of the City's Department of Design, Construction and Land Use (DCLU) has recommended to the City Council that this project be approved and that it would have a "non-significant" impact on the surrounding neighborhood. Merrill Hall repairs:

A master-use permit was granted by DCLU on Dec. 9 to allow the fire-damaged portion of the University of Washington's Merrill Hall to be replaced with a 1,500-square-foot addition that would increase the size of the building to 18,500 square feet. Saxe Floral site:

A master-use permit was granted by DCLU on Dec. 9 to allow the future construction of a mixed-use four-story building on the site of Saxe Floral & Greenhouse at 2402 NE 65th in Ravenna. The new building will include 2,309 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and 34 apartment units on the upper floors. An additional eight separate buildings containing 25 town houses and eight apartment units has also been proposed. The project will include on-site parking for 90 cars. Northgate Church:

A master-use permit was granted by DCLU on Dec. 5 that allows The Northgate Church (12345 8th Ave. NE in the Haller Lake neighborhood) to expand its surface parking lot to accommodate 196 cars. Change-of-use in Ballard:

U-Village QFC:

An application has been submitted to DCLU for a master-use permit that would allow the QFC supermarket at University Village (2746 NE 45th St.) to construct an adjacent five-pump self-service gas station. Nine existing parking spaces would be relocated and five spaces would be eliminated. An existing maintenance building would also be demolished. Office building in Fremont:

An application has been submitted to DCLU for a shoreline substantial development permit to build a four-story office building at 123 NW 36th St. in Fremont. Recycle center:

An application has been submitted to DCLU for a master-use permit that would allow a change-of-use for an existing 4,080-square-foot warehouse and adjacent storage area to a recycle center at 1212 N. 107th St. in the Haller Lake neighborhood. A change-of-use has also been requested for other office/warehouse buildings on the property (totaling 40,819 square feet) to sales service and rental of commercial equipment and construction material. U-District church remodel:

An application has been submitted to DCLU for a master-use permit to allow University Christian Church at 4731 15th Ave. NE to be remodeled to add a 4,880-square-foot child care center.
