Art show in WallingfordAn exhibit of monotype paintings by Wallingford artist Tracy Hennessy is on display through Jan. 15 at the Wallingford Neighborhood Office, located at 2100-A N. 45th St. (behind Tully's). "The monotype printmaking process intrigues me as it retains the controlled flat surface quality of other printmaking processes, yet it allows a spontaneous means of capturing the painterly textures and effects of the artist's hand," says Hennessy in explaining her work. One of the paintings in the exhibit is a humorous piece titled "Carol and Her Cardboard Dog," which depicts a woman driving a pink 1950s-era car while accompanied by her faithful companion. "My greatest joy comes when I reach those who recognize the idiosyncratic whimsy that emerges in my art, portraying the everyday juxtapositions, which occur in our society's styles, interactions and customs." The public is invited to meet the artist at a reception at the Wallingford Neighborhood Office on Friday, Dec. 13, from 7-9 p.m. For more information, call 632-3165.
