Nature walk at Ravenna Park

Ravenna Park naturalist Alisha Taylor will lead a Winter Solstice nature walk through Ravenna Park on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Cowen Park Building. The event is free. To register, call 684-7534.

Family skate nights offered

Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, located at 6535 Ravenna Ave. NE, will hold a free family Skate Night on Friday, Dec. 13, from 6:30-8:45 p.m. The event is open to all ages. Bring your own roller blades or skates. Music will be provided by the center staff. For more information, call the center at 684-7534.

Meadowbrook Community Center, located at 10517 35th Ave. NE, will hold a "Glo-A-Rama Skate Night," on Friday, Dec. 27, from 7-8:30 p.m. The event is free. "Skate the night under blacklights. The gym will also glow as the center's staff spins tunes on the stereo. Bring your own skates or scooters. For more information, call the center at 684-7522.

Lighted pond walk

The Meadowbrook Advisory Council will hold a lighted pond walk at Meadowbrook Pond on Friday, Dec. 13, from 6-9 p.m. "Join us for a stroll, reflect on the change in season and warm up your holiday spirit," states the pond walk's organizers in the Fall 2002 events program for the Meadowbrook Community Complex. "Candles provide the only light, the birds and beavers will provide the background noise and carolers will add to the scene." Hot drinks and cookies will be provided by the Meadowbrook Advisory Council. The free event will be held rain, shine or snow, say the organizers. Meadowbrook Pond is located on 35th Avenue NE, across the street and just east of the Meadowbrook Community Center (10517 35th Ave. NE).

Clinic seeks donations

Community Psychiatric Clinic, a nonprofit mental health agency in Wallingford, is raising money to buy inexpensive and practical gifts (such as socks, blankets and hygiene products) for impoverished or homeless individuals and families enrolled in services. Contributions can be mailed to: CPC/Holiday Helpers, 4319 Stone Way North, Seattle, WA 98103. For details, call development coordinator Becky Nelson at 545-2345.

'Family Fun Nite' at Ravenna

Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, located at 6535 Ravenna Ave. NE, will hold a "Family Fun Nite Holiday Extravaganza" on Friday, Dec. 6, from 6:30-9 p.m. The free event will include three giant inflatables, mini-golf, bingo, game room games, Playspace, and refreshments.
