Improvements planned for Greenwood Senior CenterThe first phase of a project to improve the facilities at the Greenwood Senior Center is set to begin. The project will include redecorating three meeting rooms and rearranging the center's parking lot to allow for a shuttle bus, which brings those who can't drive to and from the center, to load and unload passengers without blocking traffic. The citizens group that is organizing the renovation project, Friends of Greenwood Senior Center, also plans to tidy up vegetation that currently obscure's the center's entrance. "(The center) is hardly visible from the street," said Wanda Moore, a member of the Friends group. "It's terribly overgrown and gloomy." Moore is the project director for the Friends group, which has applied to receive a $10,000 Small & Simple Grant from the City that would fund the launch of the renovation project. Friends of the Greenwood Senior Center, which was formed last June and currently has 15 members, is also seeking volunteers to help with the project. The Greenwood Senior Center is located at 525 N. 85th St. For details regarding the renovation project, call 782-5992. | ||
