Peggy Ganson to be missed

Peggy Ann Ganson, a community activist who was involved in several groups including the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, History House and Fremont Rotary, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Friday, Oct. 4.

She enjoyed a successful career in commercial real estate and hosted talk shows on both local radio and television.

Longtime friend Suzie Burke recalls Ganson's fondness for dressing in fluorescent colors. "She was a little, itty bitty gal, but she knew how to stand out in a crowd," Burke said.

Although Ganson lived on Queen Anne Hill, she joined the Fremont Chamber "as a representative of what we call Fremont Heights," said Burke.

Born in Yakima, Ganson moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington.

As a real estate broker, Ganson assisted countless clients, many of whom were older single women, buy apartment buildings as retirement investments.

A celebration of Ganson's life was held Oct. 11 at the College Club of Seattle, where she used to host a talk show that aired on Channel 28. Despite her worsening condition in her final months, she continued to host the show until a few weeks before her death. Her family suggests donations be made in her honor to Hospice of Seattle or The American Cancer Society.
