Career workshops at NSCC

North Seattle Community College will hold a series of free career planning workshops running through October.

No registration is required for the sessions, which will be offered from 1-2 p.m. on Oct. 9 (Writing an Effective Letter and Resume), Oct. 10 (Job Search Techniques), Oct. 16 (How to Locate an Internship), Oct. 17 (Resume Critique/Review), Oct. 23 (Interview Power), Oct. 24 (Interviewing), Oct. 30 (See Yourself Interview on Videotape), and Oct. 31 (Salary Negotiations).

NSCC is located at 9600 College Way N. All workshops will be held in Room CC 1443, on the northeast corner of the College Center. For details, call Janet Sekijima at 527-7656.

Greenwood Elementary event

Greenwood Elementary School will host a community celebration on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 4-8 p.m. The public is invited for refreshments, entertainment and tours of the newly renovated school. Greenwood Elementary reopened on Sept. 4 after the completion of a $16 million renovation and addition. The school is located at 144 NW 80th St. For details, call 706-3850.

Youth basketball signups

Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, located at 6535 Ravenna Ave. NE, will begin its in-person basketball registration for boys and girls, ages 8-17, on Saturday, Oct. 12. The 8 and 9-year-old leagues will register from 10 a.m. to noon; 10 and above leagues will register from 12:30-2 p.m. The fee is $45. There will be limited registration: first come, first serve. To register, bring in a photocopy of a birth certificate, complete permission (including medical and general sports registration forms), and pay a fee of $45 (check or money order only).
