Senior actors needed

Tallmadge Hamilton House, a senior center in the University District, is seeking members for its Reader's Theatre. The group is currently presenting regular staged play readings. Tallmadge Hamilton House is located at 5225 15th Ave. NE. For details, call Tausha LaPointe at 524-0473.

Senior events in Ballard

The Northwest Senior Center in Ballard will host a presentation on Thursday, Sept. 5, by Roberta Krause, a senior who was at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 when the planes crashed. The program, which begins at 11 a.m., is free, however there is a recommended donation of $3 for the luncheon, which immediately follows the talk. Visitors are asked to RSVP for the lunch.

On Friday, Sept. 20, the center will host its annual fashion show, a tradition for more than 10 years. This year, fashions will be provided by Fred Meyer and the models will be senior center regulars. The event, which begins at 11 a.m., includes lunch and punch. Tickets are $10. Book fair at Ida Culver

Ida Culver House in Ravenna will host its first annual "Books to Grow On" fair on Saturday., Sept. 21 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Speakers include romance novelist Stella Cameron, photographer Josef Scaylea, filmmaker Otto Lang, poet Jack Evans, Christian book author Monica Coglas, Lou Guzzo, former Seattle P-I editor and KIRO TV commentator, and Tony Ventrella of KCPQ-TV Channel 13. The book fair is free and open to the public. Ida Culver House is an assisted-living retirement community located at 2315 NE 65th St. For details, call 523-7315.
