Lake City concert number two

The second of three outdoor concerts will be held at the Lake City Mini Park, located on the southwest corner of NE 125th and Lake City Way NE, on July 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The third will be on August 9.

The first concert, held on June 14, featured local Lake City jazz artists, Tongue and Groove. The band was extremely polished and pleasant - perfect for lunch. Several Lake City business people came out to socialize and hear the band, including Jack Miller of Edward Jones and the Dental Clinic whose offices are beside the park. After the band took some requests, a few listeners even got up to dance.

The event also celebrated Flag Day. Sonja Richter of the Crime Prevention division of the Seattle Police Department gave away several high quality embroidered flags. Yolanda Martinez of the Department of Neighborhoods gave away free sodas and light bulbs. The concert series is being sponsored by the Seattle Sun newspaper as part of its fifth year anniversary. Bands who wish to play should call Pete English of PEP Productions at 633-4828 ext. 2.

Bring a bagged lunch or purchase one from area restaurants. Free soft drinks will be provided. The last concert will be on August 9.
