Olympic Hills Elementary students Hong Ha, Tashawna, Gurveen, and Shekinah sing in the Farmer's Market! The Market drew a crowd of 2,600 people on opening day on Thursday, June 20, the best opening day ever since the Farmer's Market Alliance began organizing markets in the City of Seattle. The crowd was also entertained by band students from Ravenna Eckstein and Nathan Hale. Brian Butler closed the evening with his jazz band.

After cheering on the crowd, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels browsed the market and visited vendors. Tim Johannes, owner of Tim's Fine Berries of Puyallup says "For a first day, this was very good."

King County Councilwoman, Cynthia Sullivan said, "This is the best link between farm land you've saved in rural King County and your neighborhood."

Also present were City Councilmen Richard Conlin, Jan Drago, and Nick Licata; and King County Council woman Carolyn Edmonds.

Dept. of Neighborhoods Director, Yvonne Sanchez, surprised Market promoter Molly Burke with flowers for bringing out the crowd.
