Eye care at University Village

University Village Optical and Eye Clinic of University Village recently announced their recent relocation to the area near University Village shopping center from their respective longtime locations on First Hill.

The two eye care firms were originally founded under the names Summit Optical and Eye Clinic of First Hill respectively by Bob Brooks, an optician, and Dr. Thomas Carey. Brooks retired in 1987, and Gary Euse, also an optician, took over that side of the business. Carey retired in 1992, leaving the clinic to his son, Dr. Timothy Carey.

While the two new partners continued on First Hill for nearly a decade, by 2001 they had realized that the commute from North Seattle, where they both live, to First Hill, had become grueling. Research also showed that two-thirds of their customers lived in North Seattle. For those reasons they decided to move both businesses, including an in-house eye plastic surgery service, to University Village.

University Village Optical is located at 5114 25th Ave. NE. Eye Clinic of University Village is next door at 5116 25th Ave. NE.
