Whatıs It Worth?

By TINA SUTHERLAND and CHARLIE BAILEY

Dear Whatıs It Worth?

Isnıt this the cutest piggy bank? He is in perfect condition and says ³Corky Pig² on the bottom. Whatıs he worth?

Answer:

You do have a sweet bank. He was made by Hull and was very popular. Itıs good he still has his cork and ring, that helps the value jump to about $120, if you can bear to part with him.

Dear Whatıs It Worth?

This little Mickey Mouse says ³Walt Disney² and ³Mexico² on the side. He is 5 inches tall. What do you know about him?

Answer:

Your Mickey is just like one made by ³American Pottery.² They were based in California and did many licensed Walt Disney figurines, but yourıs is smaller and since it says Mexico, it may be a knock-off. That would affect the $300 listed value.

Dear Whatıs It Worth?

We have a whole box of these maps. Do they have any value?

Answer:

Road maps are becoming a really popular thing to collect. They often have terrific graphics and local history. The value goes from a couple of bucks for plain ones (like yours) to hundreds of dollars for the maps that qualify as wall art. Pull out that Seattle one and use it to quiz your friends. You soon be able to separate the natives from the tourists.

Dear Whatıs It Worth?

³The Indians of Puget Sound² is by Hermann Haeberlin and Erna Gunther. It was published by University of Washington Press in 1942. It has photos and information about the life styles of several local tribes.

Answer:

This paperback book has some wear, but the fascinating subject matter makes the value $30-$40.

Dear Whatıs It Worth?

This olive holder says ³Holt Howard 1958² on the bottom. I personally think itıs ugly. Can I throw it out?

Answer:

Nope. Holt Howard Pixieware is hot, hot, hot. Would you believe this piece sells for upwards of $140?

See, thereıs just no telling whatıs going to be worth big bucks. All the more reason to keep checking with the Charlie Finds gals!
