Local prep teams wrap up winter seasons

Local high school boys and girls basketball teams recently wrapped up their seasons. The following are brief recaps of how teams from North Seattle fared:

The Ballard boysı basketball team took on the Mark Morris Monarchs in the first round of the 3A state tournament, Feb. 27 at the Tacoma Dome. The Beavers lost 58-68. The teamıs high scorer for the game was Raymond Butler, a 6-foot-4 senior guard, who poured in 22 points. He was also the teamıs high scorer for the year, with 20.3-point average. Ballard had a 16-2 record in the Metro League Sound Division, and a 23-5 overall record, including non-league games.

The Roosevelt Roughridersı girlsı basketball team contested the Kentlake Falcons in the first round of the 4A State Tournament March 6 at the Tacoma Dome. Roosevelt lost 42-48. The Roughridersı high scorer for game was Jennie Wild, a 5-foot-9 senior guard who had 15 points. For the season, Roosevelt finished with a 12-1 record, good for first place in the league. The team had an impressive 25-2 overall record including non-league games. High scorer for the season was Darnellia Russel, with 14.9 points-per-game average.

The Roosevelt High boys team finished the year with a 3-10 record in KingCo 4A competition, good for 4th place in the league. The Roughriders had a 6-14 overall record, including non-league games. The teamıs high scorer for the season was Dan Morris, a 6-foot-4 senior guard/forward, who averaged 15 points per game.

The Ingraham High boys team, ended their season with a 9-9 record in Metro 3A competition, good for 5th place in the league. The Rams had a 12-13 overall record, including non-league games. The teamıs high scorer for the season was Lee Nearing, a 6-foot-2 junior guard who averaged 21.9 points a game.

The Bishop Blanchet High boys team closed up their season with a 10-7 record in Metro 3A competition, good for 10th place. For the season overall, including non-league games, the Braves had a 12-12 record. The teamıs leading scorer for the season was Zachary Simard, a 6-foot-5 senior guard who averaged 17.6 points a game.

The Nathan Hale High boys team ended with an 0-17 record in Metro 3A competition for a 13th place finish in league play. They had a 1-18 record overall, including non-league games. The teamıs top scorer for the season was Nick Benvenga, who averaged 11.2 points a game.

The Ingraham girls team had a 2-16 record in Metro League competition, good for an 11th place finish in league play. The Rams had a 2-18 record overall, including non-league games. The teamıs high scorer for the season was Tanaia Keyes, who averaged 16.1 points a game. The Bishop Blanchet girls team had a 14-3 record in Metro 3A play, good for an 8th place league finish. For the season overall, including non-league games, the Braves had a 20-6 record. The teamıs top scorer on the year was Michelle Augustavo, a 5-foot-11 sophomore guard who averaged 10.7 points a game.

The Nathan Hale girls team had a 4-13 record in Metro 3A competition for a 12th place finish in the league. The Raiders had a 4-16 overall record, including non-league games. The teamıs high scorer on the season was Brittany Gable, with 7.4 points per game average.

The Ballard girls team had a 5-13 record in Metro 3A competition, to end the season in 9th place in the league. The team had a 4-15 overall record, including non-league games. The teamıs leading scorer was Danielle McIntyre, a 5-foot-6 sophomore guard who averaged 9 points a game.
