Phinney Ridge Lutheran hosts concert

The Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, located at 7500 Greenwood Ave. N., will host a concert performed by the Northwest Chamber Chorus on March 9 and 10.

The chorus, which will be led by guest conductor Judy Filibeck, will perform several pieces including "Hymn to St. Cecilia" (the patron saint of music). Featured soloists will be flute player Anne Carlson and violinist Jennifer Sokol.

Performances will takes place at 7:30 p.m. on on Saturday, March 9, and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. Ticket prices range from $13 to $17 and can be purchased by calling 523-1196 or at ticketwindowonline.com.

Brazilian music at Sakya Monastery

The Sakya Monastery of Tibetan Buddhism, located at 108 NW 83rd St. in Greenwood, will host Vira-Lata, a Brazilian choro and samba trio on Saturday, March 16.

Choro is a fusion of African rhythm and European harmony that ranges from Brazilian waltzes to samba-infused songs.

The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5-$10 and can be purchased by calling 789-2573.
