Don't forget about Salon Sava

Just a short note about the column that Jane Lotter wrote about Reckless Video in the January 2002 paper. Seems to me that more attention is given to the video store in many stories, which may be fine, but my wife, Marilyn Nelson, and her partner seem to be forgotten.

My wife and her partner owned Salon Sava (8911 Roosevelt Ave.), a 14-year-old business that also was destroyed in the Thanksgiving Day fire that wrecked Reckless Video and Cafe News. The fire put the six people who worked at the salon out of a place to work. We also lost all our equipment. Two of our girls are single moms and cannot miss a paycheck.

After looking at other spots to rent we were able to temporarily locate at Salon Aprece at 1402 N. 80th, near Green Lake.

We are waiting to see if the building (in Maple Leaf) will be rebuilt soon and we can start over again. Salon Sava was our life for many years. Great Paper, keep up the good work.
