Greenwood Library design unveiled

By LEAH WEATHERSBY

Planning for the new Greenwood Library continued on Feb. 20 as Greenwood and Phinney Ridge residents gathered at a public meeting to comment on the latest proposed schematic design. While City Librarian Deborah Jacobs stressed that it was still early in the design process for a building that will replace the current Greenwood Library at 8016 Greenwood Ave. N., both local residents and members of the City's Design Commission agree on one thing: the inclusion of a mezzanine could provide much needed additional space at the new library, which is slated to be built on a fairly small site.

Despite the fact that it would be more difficult to staff a two-level building, library officials said they would consider that option.

Jacobs also announced plans to form a new citizen liaison committee to work with library officials on further refining the schematic design for the Greenwood Library, which is expected to be completed by April.
