Lake City Chamber breakfast
Mark your calendars for the Lake City Chamber of Commerce's pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 14 at the Lake City Community Center. The event, which will raise funds to benefit the chamber, will be held from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost is $5 per person, with children under 4 admitted free. The breakfast event will include information tables for various community groups, including the new Lake City Farmers Market. The public is also encouraged to bring a can of food to donate to the North Helpline Food Bank in Lake City. In related news, the 4-H girls group that meets regularly at the Lake City Community Center will begin a donation drive for the North Helpline Food Bank in March. Greenwood-Phinney Chamber hands out awards
The Greenwood-Phinney Chamber of Commerce honored 16 businesses and individuals for their contributions to the community last year during the group's annual awards event, which was held at the Greenwood Masonic Lodge on Feb. 2.
Award winners included the 74th Street Ale House, A1 Piano, the Greenwood Masonic Lodge, Ginger's Boutique, American Dance Institute, Greenwood Market, Red Mill Burgers, Charlie Finds Great Old Stuff, Antique Lighting Company, Phinney Neighborhood Center, The Upper Crust catering company, Starbucks, Greenwood True Value Hardware, Allegra Print and Imaging, and Candace Barroga of Washington Mutual Bank (Crown Hill branch). CPA David Liatos was honored as Board Member of the Year.
Music for the festivities was provided by pianist Alex Guilbert of Music Center of the Northwest, while the Greenwood Masonic Lodge and St. John Parish donated the venue and event parking respectively.
The evening's ceremony was led by Chamber president Jeanne Mae Barwick of Mae's Phinney Ridge Cafe, board member Janice Gockel of Music Center of the Northwest, and the Chamber's immediate past-president, Michele Della Pella of Bank of America.
New stores at Northgate Mall
A 5,300-square-foot California Pizza Kitchen restaurant is currently under construction in the former Mocha Tree space at Northgate Mall, reports mall spokeswoman Angela Forest. The new restaurant is scheduled to open in May.
Other new stores coming to Northgate Mall include an alternative shoe store called Journeys, which will sell Doc Martens and skate gear-type clothing, said Forest. The store, which will be located in the old Natural Wonders space, is set to open in late May or early June.
Tall's Camera will take over the old Garden Botanika space, with an opening date set for mid-June. Construction work for the new store is set to begin in mid-March.
