CLO gets new director
On Jan. 12, Rick May took over as managing director at Civic Light Opera, located in the Jane Addams Theatre at 11081 34th Ave. NE. May replaces Jared Shaver who left CLO in December. For the past 12 years, May, 61, has been the producing artistic director at the Renton Civic Theatre. He appeared as an actor at CLO in the theater company's production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" in 1989. "I've always admired Civic Light Opera," said May, who left Renton Civic Theatre in August to take a break from the entertainment business. When he heard the managing director position at CLO was opening up, May said it was too good an opportunity to pass up.
