Boys & Girls Club seeks donations

The Wallingford Boys & Girls Club is issuing an all-points-bulletin to the community for donated items for the club's annual rummage sale, which will be held Saturday, March 16. The proceeds from the sale will support the club's afterschool recreational and educational programs.

The club especially welcomes donatons of televisions, boomboxes, electronic games, toys, clothes, strollers (but no car seats), nice adult clothing, kitchen items, furniture, books, videos and bicycles. The club asks that the items be in working condition and that they not be stained or torn.

Donations can be dropped off at the club's building at 1310 N 45th St. (enter from 46th, corner of Stone & 45th) on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3-6 p.m. They can also be dropped off at any of the club's program sites, including the main site at 503 N 50th (50th and Dayton, enter on Dayton) between 8:30 a.m. and noon and 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Hangar walking passes available

Since Jan. 18, the Seattle Parks Department has been selling walking passes for Hangar 27 at Sand Point Magnuson Park. Billed as a dry place to walk off extra pounds from holiday indulgence, the hangar will be open to walkers on weekdays between 6-8 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. Passes cost $20 and can be purchased at the Administration Building at 7400 Sand Point Way NE, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 684-8832.

Register now for Little League

Northeast Seattle Little League is registering baseball and softball players for its 2002 season, which runs from March to June. Boys and girls, ages six through 17 are eligible. Registration, either by mail or in-person, is required even if the child played previously.

To sign-up, at least one parent or legal guardian must be present (if registering in person) and have proof of the child's age as well as their residency within the boundaries of the league. The boundaries are Lake Washington to the east, Lake Washington and the Ship Canal to the south, NE 110th Street to the north and 25th Avenue NE to NE 80th Street and 20th Avenue NE to Lake City Way to NE 110th Street on the west. An in-person registration session will be held at the Meadowbrook Community Center located at 10515 35th Ave. NE on Feb. 2 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. All registrations are due by Feb. 16, after which a late fee may apply and the child could be wait-listed.
