LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Friends of Sandel Park say thanks

Thanks so much to all of the concert volunteers and all of you that showed up with your picnics and families to support our neighborhood park. I think our first concert series in Sandel Park (in Greenwood, between NW 90th and NW 92nd, and 1st and 2nd Avenues NW) was a success on many levels.

We've taken a short but well deserved break from meetings and planning over the last three weeks but are ready to get the ball rolling on the future of Sandel Park.

We are really excited to announce that our proposal for two traffic circles on NW 92nd Street at 1st and 2nd Avenues NW has been funded. This should really cut down on the speeding traffic at these uncontrolled intersections on the north edge of the park for children using the park now and in the future. The City anticipates construction to begin in 2002.

Our next steps are to get everyone together to get specific about what we want to do for the future of the park. We'll talk about solutions to issues that we all care about - crime and safety, traffic, kids play area, restroom building, lighting, etc.

We'll need your help - your ideas, your experience, your opinions, your passions, your time. Be on the lookout for updates and pass the info along to your neighbors.
