Fremont Bike/walking maps
This summer, the Bicycle Alliance of Washington will release a map of bicycle and pedestrian routes in Fremont.
The map project is funded by a $5,000 Car Smart Communities Challenge grant from the City's Strategic Planning Office. According to Dan Farrell, project assistant with the Bicycle Alliance, organizers hope the Fremont map will eventually serve as a template for similar projects in other areas.

Pilates Northwest opens doors
Louise Beckley and Jenny Wacker recently opened a new business in Lake City called Pilates Northwest. Billed as "A Studio Focused From the Inside-Out," Pilates Northwest offers instruction in the fitness techniques developed 70 years ago by Joseph H. Pilates that take a holistic approach to movement, body awareness and exercise. Beckley and Wacker met six years ago at Gold's Gym in Everett where they both work as part-time aerobics instructors. Discovering that they both shared an interest in Pilates, they decided to go into business together and enrolled in a training program to become certified Pilates instructors. Beckley, who also works as a rolfing practitioner at The Center for DFA and Rolfing in Lake City, said they chose the Lake City area for Pilates Northwest because of its centralized location, which makes it easy for clients to come from both the North End and South Seattle, as well as the Eastside. Pilates Northwest is located at 12337 30th Ave. NE, Suite S2.
