LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Boundaries are up to community

It is my understanding that a recent issue of the Jet City Maven visited the subject of boundaries of local community councils. I am also often asked "What are the boundaries of Pinehurst?"

Not long ago I asked Deidre Grace (Neighborhood Development Manager, Northeast Sector) of the Department of Neighborhoods how community council boundaries are defined. I was told that the City of Seattle lets each community council define its own boundaries.

The Pinehurst Community Council Bylaws define Pinehurst as the area APPROXIMATELY bounded by Northgate Way, Lake City Way, NE 125th and Roosevelt Way. Our bylaws may be changed by a majority vote at any regular meeting.

We acknowledge that these boundaries may not coincide exactly with the boundaries of other nearby community councils. We also encourage all persons to participate in the activities of the community organization of their choice.

-GARTH FERBER, President, Pinehurst Community Council
