Ballard High honors former coach

Ballard High recently dedicated their new weight room to former coach Henry A. Bendele, a Ballard High graduate who coached football and basketball at his alma mater from 1938 to 1960. He holds the record for most wins in the school district during that time period. The weight room was furnished with a $50,000 donation from Victor Salvino, a 1951 Ballard graduate, in memory of his former basketball coach. Ballard High is located at 1418 NW 65th Street.

B.F. Day receives donation from Windermere

Sales associates and staff at Windermere Real Estate Company's Lake Forest Park, Lakeview, Northgate, Sand Point and Wedgwood offices recently teamed up with the Windermere Foundation to donated $1,100 to B.F. Day Elementary School in Fremont. The funds will be used to continue the performing arts series that enabled the homeless population at B.F. Day to attend musicals, stage plays and other cultural performances throughout the city. The donation will help an estimated 75 children.

NSCC gets $1 million from Rolex

The North Seattle Community College Foundation has received a $1 million grant from Rolex Watch USA Inc. to support the college's watchmaking program. NSCC President Kathleen Noble was on hand to receive the check from a Rolex official.
