Searching for past Miss Greenwoods

The Greenwood Phinney Chamber of Commerce is seeking to contact former Miss Greenwoods and Miss Greenwood Princesses to ride in this year's 50th annual Greenwood Seafair Parade on Wednesday, July 26.

The Chamber is also looking for snapshots from any past Greenwood Seafair Parades to be used in a promotional collage poster.

Former Miss Greenwood Princess of 1969, Shauna Zuger, has been sorting through files and telephone books and hasn't had much luck. It is not known how many years the Chamber has held the Miss Greenwood Pagaent. "I have a list that goes back to 1972, but know of ones from 1951 and 1961," Zuger said. "It would be nice to have as many participate as possible."

Zuge said serving as Miss Greenwood Princess at age 19 was an experience she will never forget. "I participated in all the district parades including the Grand Parade and Torchlight Parade," she recalled. The thrill of being selected as a first runner-up in the Miss Greenwood Pageant also instilled a sense of confidence that has helped her later in life. Today, she works as a sales manager for a yogurt company.

The same holds true for Kerri (Johnson) Krause, Miss Greenwood of 1991, and Karie (Russell) Eggehorn, Miss Greenwood of 1994.

Krause today runs a business of her own, as a professional seamstress. She also does work for a local mail-order company. Eggehorn is a full-time mom and housewife who is also active in her church, assisting her husband who serves as a music pastor.

The Chamber would like to hear from more former Miss Greenwoods and Miss Greenwood Princesses. They are encouraged to contact Shauna Zuger at slzuger@cascadefresh.com or Ruth MacDonald at 783-2244.
