Have you ever wanted to sit behind the wheel of a powerful NASCAR race car? Here's your chance.
Connie's Rimrock Steakhouse in Lake City is hosting its 2nd annual NASCAR-style race on Sept. 11 at the Evergreen Speedway race track in Monroe. The event is open to anyone willing to pay the entry fee of $538, but is limited to 18 contestants. While the race features real NASCAR cars, the event is not an official NASCAR competition.
Drivers will be provided with race cars and everything else needed to compete in the 125-lap event. The race will be run on an oval track five-eighths of a mile in length.
Chuck Holdorf, manager of Connie's Rimrock Steakhouse, says that last year's race was an unbelievable experience. "It was the thrill of a lifetime," he says.
The event begins at 8 a.m., with two hours of class and then the rest of the day is dedicated to the race itself. Food and drink will be provided to race participants. Some of the participants who have already signed up include Rimrock employees and customers as well as people from other neighborhood businesses.
To register, stop by Connie's Rimrock Steakhouse located at 12322 Lake City Way NE.
