Maven staff win SPJ journalism awards

Jane Lotter, whose "Jane Explains" column is a popular fixture in the Jet City Maven, received an honorable mention award in the humorous writing category for non-daily newspapers in Western Washington from the Society of Professional Journalists. Lotter won for her column titled "Why Not 2K?," which ran in the Maven's June 1999 issue.

Jet City Maven Co-Publisher Clayton Park also received an SPJ award for a business column he writes for the Eastside Journal, where Park holds a "day job" as business editor. Park won a second place award in the business column category for daily newspapers in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska) for a three-part series he wrote on stock market day traders.
