Broadview Community United Church of Christ (BCUCC) recently installed Rev. Dan Stern as their new pastor. Stern previously served St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Ballard for one year and was a pastor at a UCC congregation in Chicago for 12 years.

BCUCC is a theologically and socially diverse faith community, rooted in both scripture and contemporary reflection. It is one of a growing number of "Open and Affirming" congregations which have chosen to "affirm that lesbian, gay and bisexual persons are welcomed ... in the same manner used in the acceptance of any member." In keeping with the spirit of being Open and Affirming in employment and leadership as well as in membership in general, BCUCC has called Stern, conscious of his gifts and talents as a Christian gay man.

Stern says, "as the pastor of BCUCC, I want to encourage people to live well their present moments in time. I see my calling as having to do with assisting people (and this church in particular) in discovering their best and brightest future."
