Wow! What a wonderful non-profit, volunteer group project ... showing community spirit and "Soul" (food?)! The youth group from Our Lady of the Lake will join adult volunteers and volunteers from St. Matthews Parish also to work on one of 50 homes selected by "Christmas in April - Seattle Home Repair Program" project April 29.

Homes of (these 50) seniors or handicapped people are going to be painted, yards cleaned up, some needed plumbing and wiring repairs done by these volunteers (some being professionals) at no cost to the homeowner.

I know of a family in the North End who are one of the recipients this year and it is very heart-warming to know that after many hardships and health challenges this much needed help is here for them. As a friend, I wanted very much to help this family, but the task was overwhelming for my husband and I to do alone, so I'd like to thank the volunteers ahead of time. "Thank you so very much!"
