Get ready for the Battle of the Bands, Lake City style

Calling all musicians! Now is the time to get your demo CDs and tapes ready. Next issue, we'll be printing our Battle of the Bands entry blank. You'll have until the end of May to enter.

The 3rd annual Battle of the Bands will take place this August during the 58th Annual Lake City Pioneer Days Festival produced by the Lake City Chamber.

Unlike many contests, this one is open to anyone and everyone whether you are a solo artist or have a ten-piece band. The competition is open to polka, rock, new age, alternative, classical, bluegrass, blues, jazz, country, barbershop quartets and just about anything else. An entry fee is required, but winners walk off with cash prizes.

Judges sort through entries to pick five to perform at the Street Festival. They are not allowed to see the name of the performer, the fancy press kit, or whether the entry was submitted on tape or CD, all things that can influence the real test - "Do they sound good enough to win?"

We are also looking for judges: individuals with a good ear and some Seattle music scene notoriety or connection. Radio, TV, or Newspasper personalities interested in being a judge will be invited to promote their own company at the event. Potential candidates must have no close ties to any particular band that they know will be entering. Please call the Jet City Maven at 440-9149 for more information.
