If you visit The Pub at Piper's Creek and a uniformed "game warden" approaches you, relax.
Chances are, he or she just wants to take your food/drink order.
Having a good time is the main rule at The Pub at Piper's Creek, a restaurant/tavern which opened its doors Dec. 3 at 10527 Greenwood Ave. N. Co-owners Joseph Perry and Charlene Iverson are the establishment's "head game wardens." Perry is an ex-quality assurance worker at Boeing whose job was doing final inspections of 747s. Iverson is a veteran restaurateur who also owns the popular Stoneway Cafe in Fremont.
Perry was a regular customer at the Stoneway Cafe who asked Iverson out on a double-date, along with another couple, four years ago. Perry and Iverson have been an item ever since. They had been thinking about starting a business together and saw their opportunity when the former Crazy's tavern space became available for lease.
Their vision for The Pub at Piper's Creek is to offer a first-class dining experience along with an array of top micro-brews and wines in a casual setting. In keeping with the name, the pub sports a fly-fishing lodge theme, hence the staff's game warden uniforms.
Perry and Iverson hope their establishment, which can seat up to 150 people and has ample parking, can be used as a meeting place by local clubs and community groups. The pub has pool tables, TVs and could possibly include live entertainment. "We're thinking of having a Beatles Night," said Perry.
The pub's head chef, a.k.a. "Coleman Specialist," is Michael Boston, a graduate of Seattle Central Community College's acclaimed culinary program. He also works weekends at the Stoneway Cafe.
