Lake City Presbyterian to add breakfast service

Lake City Presbyterian Church will add an early morning "Casual Breakfast Worship Service," beginning Sunday, Jan. 9. Buffet-style breakfast will be served starting at 8 a.m. and informal worship begins at 8:30 a.m. Infant care and Sunday school up to third grade will also be available.

After experimenting with this service for 10 weeks last summer, LCPC found it to be a meaningful early morning alternative, according to Pastor Hallack Greider. Sharing a meal around tables in an informal setting, along with a contemporary-style worship service proved to be a draw for many in the congregation as well as for those in the community looking for something a little "different" in a church service.

LCPC was incorporated in 1941 as a Sunday school outreach and has consistently valued strong friendship ties and love of children, according to Greider. As a neighborhood church, it wants to meet real needs in the community. The breakfast service is one expression of this, he says.

"The only thing casual about the service is the dress code," says Greider. "We take our commitment to Christ and to each other seriously."

LCPC also has a second energetic worship service, which presently meets at 10 a.m., and will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 9.

LCPC is located at 3841 NE 123rd in Lake City. For more information, call 362-6878.
