The Empty Space Theatre in Fremont will open its 30th anniversary season with the West Coast premiere of Amy Freed's wickedly funny comedy about the destructive powers of the creative personality, "The Psychic Life of Savages," which will run from Nov. 3-Dec. 5.
Preview shows will be held on Oct. 29, 30, Nov. 1 and Nov. 2.
The play is loosely based on "the chaotic lives of certain eminent 20th Century poets": driven, desperate young Sylvia Fluellen; suave and self-absorbed Ted Magus; hard-drinking, pill-popping Anne Bittenhand; and the semi-psychotic "American Poet Laureate," Dr. Robert Stoner. When these four towering figures come together, the mighty clash of fantasies, passions, delusions, addictions, revelations and obsessions topples a number of innocent bystanders, not to mention the writers themselves.
The play is directed by Leslie Swackhamer and stars Will Marchetti, Lori Larsen, Betsy Schwartz, Eric Ray Anderson, Beth Andrisevic, Ian Bell, and Susanna Wilson.
The Empty Space is located at 3509 Fremont Ave. N. Call 547-7500 for showtimes and ticket information.
