Rep. Phyllis Kenney (D-Seattle) will host a forum on childcare issues with a panel of local child-care experts at North Seattle Community College on Saturday, Nov. 6.
"Families are working more hours than ever before to make a living, sacrificing time they need to spend with their spouses and their children," said Kenney, a three-term lawmaker, former small business owner and mother of 10 children. "Many families, from working couples to single moms, also are unable to pay for childcare and lack the time and training to find better jobs to pull themselves up the income ladder."
The goal of the forum, said Kenney, is to develop creative ways to help families meet these challenges and to assist businesses who want to help.
The forum will last from 8 a.m. to noon and will be held in NSCC's Student Event Center, located on the ground level of the main building on campus.
Kenney represents the 46th Legislative District, which includes the North Seattle neighborhoods of Green Lake, Hawthorne Hills, View Ridge, Northgate, Greenwood, Pinehurst and Lake City.
