Safeway's Pinehurst Day raises money for Ryther Child Center

Safeway representative, Mitchell Johnson put it something like this: "Everybody's heard of Fremont, everybody's heard of Green Lake and Wallingford, but not too many people have heard of Pinehurst. I'm going to help put Pinehurst on the map." And so was born, Pinehurst Day on June 26.

The event was planned as a fund-raiser for Ryther Child Center in Wedgwood. Johnsonville Franks donated the bratwursts, including the new Stadium Bratwurst to be served at Safeco Field. Frito-Lay donated the chips. Safeway donated the volunteers and the rest of the food and drinks.

If you missed it, don't worry. Another Pinehurst Day is soon to come - this time with hopes of mother nature cooperating.

Johnson has been spending a lot of time working in Pinehurst on a new Safeway planned for the intersection of NE125th and 15th Ave NE. The new store will be located south of the current store on a site that is currently occupied by a warehouse. The plan is to keep the old store open while building the new one to provide the least amount of disruption in service for customers.
