Taproot makes room for Bathhouse subscribers

Taproot Theatre recently announced it will make additional room for subscribers from the now-defunct Bathhouse Theatre by adding two additional performances to each of its 1999 Season productions.

The Bathhouse, saddled with mounting debts, closed the doors of its Green Lake-area theater in February.

Bathhouse subscribers are invited to make advance reservations for Wednesday performances of Taproot shows throughout the remainder of the season. As tickets become available, they will also be able to reserve seats for other performances during the week.

The day after the Bathhouse closed, staff members of Taproot met and agreed they wanted to actively participate in helping Bathhouse artistic director Arne Zaslove in his desire to care for his extremely loyal subscribers.

Pamela Nolte, founding member and public relations director for the 23-year-old Taproot Theatre, summarized her company's feelings: "The closing of any theatre in this city is a loss for Seattle theater-goers, but when it's one with the longevity of the Bathhouse (20 years), the ramifications are felt by everyone...

"We have a national reputation for being a theatre community that works together in unique and unexpected ways. If ever there was a time to come together and take care of a group of our city's treasured theatre patrons, this is it."

Taproot is located at 204 N. 85th St. in Greenwood. For details on how to exchange Bathhouse tickets for tickets to Taproot productions, call 781-9707.
