Dear Stan:

I am writing to commend you on your "retirement" as columnist for The Seattle Press, about which I read recently in the Press. I have always enjoyed reading your columns, finding them insightful and interesting. However, I had no idea of your rich and long history with the publication as well as its predecessors, and the many tasks you performed, from building office furniture to setting type long before computers have made that job easier. As I read the article, I marveled at all you have done, such as with the papers for which you have written and the people involved in news writing whom you have known and worked with over your many years in the newspaper business. Your "credentials" are impressive, indeed.

I wish you the very best as you retire from writing regularly for The Seattle Press, and I look forward to reading your monthly column for the Jet City Maven. In retirement, perhaps you will want to write your reflections of the many rich and interesting years you have served your community with your writing, which I believe would be interesting reading!
