Mustang club to mark 20th year
Mustangs Northwest, a local group of Mustang car owners affiliated with the Mustang Club of America, will celebrate its 20th year with a banquet in January.
Club members Barry and Carol Ganje (proud "original owners of a 1966 Mustang and longtime Lake City residents) report that the local chapter has been active in community service, having recently donated 1,000 pounds of food to the Northwest Harvest, $1,500 to the Alpine Boys Ranch and $1,500 to Child School. The club holds monthly membership meetings at North Seattle Community College, and board meetings at Bill Pierre Ford in Lake City.
The local chapter also organizes the annual Mustangs Northwest Roundup, which attracts more than 1,000 Mustangs and a People's Choice Show. The Ganjes say it's the biggest gathering of Mustang enthusiasts in the country.

City Council says no to Olympics - again
The Seattle City Council, which earlier this fall said no to a proposed resolution to support a bid for the city to host the 2012 Summer Olympics, passed a second resolution on Dec. 14 reaffirming that decision to reject support of an Olympics bid. "Hopefully this will bring some closure to the issue," said Councilman Nick Licata, who introduced the latest resolution, which passed by an 8 to 1 vote. Councilwoman Jan Drago cast the lone dissenting vote.
