Mayor should let ethics commission do its work

It would appear Seattle's citizens will have one more reason to question their trust in government if the Mayor continues with his efforts to suppress the ability of the elections and ethics commission to shed light on activities of governemtn that appear questionable.

We (of the Seattle Neighborhood Coalition) find (Mayor) Paul Schell's assertion that city workers "work in a climate of fear" preposterous. Schell's promise to eliminate the "appearance of mis-conduct" from the commission's work is a serious threat to our governance.

With your help by giving this issue a little more coverage, maybe the Mayor will understand that open government with the appearance of ethical behavior will continue to serve the people of Seattle. We need a little sunshine on public work.
